What do you need?
All you really need to start Up & Running is a sensible pair of trainers. You don't need to go out and buy something specially, it's fine to start in whatever you already have. But bear in mind that it can be muddy in the park, so don't wear shoes that you don't want to get dirty (or they will end up like those pictured here!)
Shona will advise on buying the right running shoes for you if you do decide to do so, and she often has a few spare pairs that you can borrow to try out or if you don't have anything suitable to start with. Otherwise, you just need to wear loose thin layers that you can put on and take off easily. |
The other piece of kit that makes running much more comfortable is a decent sports bra, however if you don't own one of these, its worth having a chat to Shona. There are so many different types available, but for running you need maximum support.
We always run, whatever the weather, so be prepared! If it's raining a lightweight waterproof is useful, but the most important thing if it's cold or wet is to have plenty of warm layers to change into afterwards so you don't get cold as you cool down.
And we hope you may want to stay and have a coffee with us and your fellow runners afterwards in the Hollybush cafe.
